On June 29, 2025, we lost one of the founding librarians of the UC Berkeley Ethnic Studies Library:
~ Wei Chi Poon 余慧子 ~
From the 1970s until her retirement in 2014, she was the indispensable guide for countless students and scholars from around the world as they explored the incomparable Asian American Studies archives she established and nurtured. Even after her retirement, she continued to support the archives and the library. Rest in peace, Wei Chi. Thank you for your tireless devotion and care and for leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
